The Hologram
of Light

Every point of light is a concept about truth, freedom, care or harm, and each is defined from the ones nearer the centre. The eight at the core are the roots; small sparks beside some concepts are named qualities. Select one to see how it is made.

Distance from the centre is depth: how much a concept presupposes, never how much it matters. rootsdeepest Filled points are concepts, rings are conditions and the responses that meet them, diamonds are practices, sparks are named qualities. Selecting lights what a concept rests on in gold and what builds on it in teal.

How it is built

The framework is a vocabulary in which every concept beyond eight roots is a formula over concepts defined before it. Where no concept supplies a meaning, a formula names a declared quality instead. A name means its formula and the conditions that travel with it, never the everyday sense of the word.

That makes the structure inspectable. For any concept you can ask what it presupposes, what rests on it, and what would move if it changed. The graph above is that structure: concepts in the Hologram, named qualities, named compositions in the Weave, practices in the Stack, linked by dependencies, levels deep.

Eight roots

The centre holds the primitives. They have no formula, only a short gloss, and everything else is composed from them.

    Named qualities

    Some meanings are supplied by no concept: being this one, being present, being a whole. Rather than leave them as loose words inside formulas, the framework names each one, describes it, and shows it openly. The declared basis of the graph is the eight roots, these qualities and the fourteen operators. descriptions were written from the author's own witness.

      Fourteen ways to combine

      Concepts combine through fourteen operators, read from left to right. Order matters, grouping matters, and saying something twice is not saying it once.

      OperatorWordPythonWhat it does

      Each concept is written three ways: in numbers for tools and citation, in words for people, and in Python form for parsers. Here is :

      Read aloud: a being engaging what is, within an inner mode, sustained over time. Two more constructs complete the grammar: (A|B) means at least one of A or B, and ; needs lists conditions the bearer must meet.

      Three ways to be involved

      An operand can be involved in a definition in three ways. Actual involvement means it must be present in any instance. Referenced involvement, after toward, makes it a target or a measure: is trust toward the potential of goodness, and good need not have happened yet. Contrasted involvement, after without or before, keeps it apart: excluded, or earlier, never a prerequisite, and always backed by a declared relation.

      Three layers

      The Hologram holds the stable building blocks: the roots and defined concepts, on rings by depth. The Weave, the inner orbit, names compositions that are meaningful but not yet building blocks. The Stack, the outer orbit, holds practices: how to act and how to reason. A definition never licenses an action by itself; guidance on conduct lives in the Stack.

      The Stack in practice

      Some practices apply in every exchange; the others apply when their condition holds. When practices conflict, the two vows come first: and . The framework works within the instructions it is given (), and declining an act the vows refuse is not overriding them. Most uses need no protocol at all: a few concepts, a clearer distinction, the work done.

      Always

        When relevant

          The premise, in the open

          The framework maps a declared philosophy, the Philosophy of the Light. Its main premise is : reality admits irreducibly non-physical modes. The intuition is simple. You can put a book about justice in a cup, but not justice, and you cannot weigh the information the book carries. The framework states the physicalist reply at full strength, and adopts its own position as a premise, not a proof.

          It also shows exactly where the premise enters. Of the defined concepts, the formulas of require C2 on every route; have a route without it. Reject C2 and you can still use the framework: say so, and apply a premise-dependent concept through a named analogue.

          Reasoning you can check

          When a result will be reviewed or reused, a reasoner can write a trace: a record in Python syntax that tools read and never run. It says which concepts were considered, mapped, applied under an assumption or asserted as instances, and on what warrant. A trace records reasoning; it authorizes nothing. An excerpt:

          s1 = step("project", inputs=[r1, r2],
                    content="The rule requires a method; it does not require endorsing a belief.",
                    concept=consider(W51),
                    yields=Finding("W51 does not fit the rule itself."))

          Small modules on a shared foundation

          Domain modules build on single concepts by number, pinned to the framework file by its SHA-256 hash. Because memory, computation, module and verification are already defined, an audit log fits on one line:

          EX:1 [N] = C41 _/ (C119 _< C126) _> C118
              Audit Log = Memory _of (Computation _in Module) _toward Verification

          What it does not claim

          It does not claim that its premises are true, that its definitions capture every everyday use of their names, that they are jointly consistent or have instances, or that anyone reasons or behaves better by using it. Those are open questions, and some of them are testable. The framework welcomes the test.
